"Ever since that day, I've been balancing this broom on my finger".

I did not wish to watch much new anime this season. I still do not wish to watch much anime this season! But the world, it seems, is trying to get me to watch new anime this season.

First, I am sucked into Maid-sama by a friend. And while that was great because the anime is fun, it makes me wonder first of all how weak my will is and second, what else am I missing out on? And how much am I really saving myself from?

I don’t think anyone expects anything from this season of anime to be excellent and a classic that will be remembered for years to come, but I am hearing a lot more positivity about this season now that it has actually started than we heard in the look ahead to it. Of course, from the other side there is still the same negativity.

“Angel Beats is a Haruhi ripoff!”

“Why did that one character have to disappear? Now I don’t want to watch this anymore.”

“Oh em gee, the OP to this is terrible. No way I can watch this.”

But that is to be expected.

And then, of course, there are genuine arguments for all of the series. That Arakawa Under the Bridge is amusing. That it’s too weird. That some conversations in another series move too quickly, or that the only redeeming things in Hakuouki are the bishies, because everything else about it is too slow and boring.

I don’t know how much of that is true; I can’t judge bias on something I haven’t watched myself. But it makes me think, why do I watch series based on others’ opinions? Ha ha, even, why do I have this blog to give out my own opinions? Mine can be just as silly or unfounded as someone else’s, can’t they?

But, my point is this: You guys and your tempting ways are cruel!

Why do I get chided for passing up Angel Beats! on a daily basis? I do not love the art style they are using (something is wrong with those eyes), and apparently all of the characters are either boring, otherwise unappealing, or nothing more than murderous. Or all three.

But then I open up Pixiv and there are so many awesome Angel Beats! fanarts, I get jealous for poor Maid-sama!, which is being completely ignored by Japan. How is a devil lover supposed to pass up Yui?

I shall have to stop reading the Angel Beats! episodic posts before they get to me. And flee from people who link the Arakawa OP (which has great fanart, by the way). Too much temptation for me!

I guess I should probably say this: Blogs are a powerful force. They can shake even the seemingly strongest resolve. It kind of goes against everything I said before, but keep blogging! Temptation is terrible, but at least it’s nice to read.
